Every year St Mary’s prepares and produces the Christmas Journey for over 300 primary school children in our area. 2018 will be the tenth year when we run the interactive story telling the real meaning of Christmas. The dates are:
Wednesday 28th November
Thursday 29th November
Friday 30th November
Putting on the Christmas Journey requires teamwork and commitment from many people. St Mary’s community is unusual in that there are so many who are ready to join the team, to learn and practice their role(s), and to turn up prepared on the day. There are over 50 people who help in one way or another, whether to set up the scenes, make bread, operate puppets, feed the team, lead the children, teach them a song, or act as Mary, Gabriel or the Storyteller. And this may be for a half-day session or for many sessions.
Without the skill, talent, hard work and good humour of our volunteers the show will not get on the road, which would deprive the children in our local schools of an important element in their education, and spiritual development.
If you would like to see the Christmas Journey, especially if you have a professional interest (e.g. teacher, minister) please contact Peter Fall to arrange a time and date when he will escort you around the Journey and arrange for you to meet some of the volunteers.
