Art Exhibition

Bromley Art Society have provided their usual mix of engaging paintings, etchings and sketches, together with a wide range of craft – including jewellery, ceramics, stone and shell sculptures, woolly items and art books.

St Mary’s Church is open from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturday and again on Sunday from 12 noon till 5, when you can freely come in and enjoy the artwork, relax in the café and listen to live music. The café is free (donations gratefully received) with homemade cakes as the main attraction and an endless stream of tea and coffee.

On Saturday we welcome Gina Watson, a local professional singer, with her accompanist Kinuko, from 10 till 12 noon, and then we have Ben James and three friends singing a cappella  for an hour till 1 pm. The remaining music will come from the organ with Anne Clements playing till 3 pm.

In the evening there is a grand concert performed by Bromley Symphony Players, directed by Bernard Brook, which will include the Bach Double Violin Concerto and Holst’s St Paul’s Suite. All takings go The Alzheimer Society.

After the morning service on Sunday, live music continues with the unaccompanied church choir for an hour, followed by the talented Harney family on keyboards. At 2 pm Tracey Renwick plays the piano, with Bernard Brook (violin) and Helen McDonald (cello) joining her in popular music until 5 p.m.

All the paintings and craft are available to buy, and our thanks go to Bromley Art Society for once again making this event such a success.
