St. Mary's Festival Choir is an expanded version of the Church Choir and performs twice a year in St Mary’s. Anyone who would like to sing, but cannot commit themselves to regular services, is welcome to join in on these occasions. Friends and relatives from St Mary’s congregation and the community, with acquaintances from local choirs and churches, find their way into this happy crowd of about 40 voices. We sing a sacred cantata, such as Stainer’s 'Crucifixion', on Good Friday, and a work such as Fauré’s Requiem around Remembrance time in November each year, raising money for local charities. We also sing carols in residential care homes before Christmas.

St Mary’s Festival Choir will sing Fauré’s Requiem on Remembrance Sunday (10th November) at 6.30 p.m. in St Mary’s Church. They will be directed by Beverley Howard, with Anne Clements playing the organ. Chris Moore will be the Baritone soloist and Louise Clements will sing the Pie Jesu. The choir will also sing “Cantique de Jean Racine” by Fauré. Admission is free and there will be a retiring collection in aid of Help for Heroes and the church Lighting Project.

Rehearsals are on Tuesday 29th October and Tuesday 5th November at 7.30 p.m. in the church, and at 4.00 p.m. on 10th November. Singers are warmly welcomed to come and join the Festival Choir – please contact Peter Fall to register your interest and for more details. peter@fallfamily.co.uk
