Help fund St. Mary's work
The work of St.Mary's is funded entirely from its own resources. In fact we also pay a proportion of our income to the Diocese to help fund the training of clergy as well as supporting other churches within the Diocese who need help.
The majority of our income comes from Parishioners, although we do run our adjoining community centre (House and Hall) efficiently and receive some income from rents. We rely on people making regular commitments (weekly/monthly/annually). It currently costs about £60,000 pa to run St.Mary's and, of course, is increasing all the time. Everyone needs to pay their share, no matter how large or small, otherwise it is left to a few people to subsidise others.
Under new Gift Aid rules from the Charity Commissioners, if St.Mary's receive money from anybody who pays tax, we can claim 28% of the gift from the Inland Revenue! There is no lower limit and it has no effect on the taxpayer. Thus we can increase our revenue for no additional cost.
What are the ways you can help?
- Complete and return a Pledge Form available from the people listed below
- Make payments by standing order from your bank or by our regular weekly/monthy envelope scheme
- If you are a tax payer - make Declaration to that effect and we can claim a tax refund
- We also have special 'gift aid' envelopes in which any one-off donations can be put that also enable us to claim back tax
